A loan helped a member to incrase her stock of paraffin.

Malengo Group's story

Mwanaenzi, who is in her late 30s, is married with two children who go to school. For the past four years, she has been running two businesses: she is food vendor and she sells paraffin for fuel. Mwanaenzi works from six in the morning through six in the evening and is able to make a fair monthly profit. She is a member of the loan group “Malengo,” which has 17 members, who will hold each other accountable in paying back their loans.

Mwanaenzi is requesting a loan to increase her sock of paraffin. This will be her fourth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used her previous loans to buy land, pay school and household expenses, as well as to start selling paraffin. Mwanaenzi has successfully repaid all of her loans. Her dream is to one day be able to buy more land.
