María Celina's story

Maria is a member of the “Maluay” communal Bank and lives in the community of the same name in Del Valle parish. This parish has beautiful landscapes to admire. It's people are dedicated to commerce, animal raising, and agriculture. Many go to the city daily to work in different areas. The people maintain their culture and traditions.

Maria is 34 years old, married, and from this union there are 2 children, ages 15 and 8 respectively. Her older daughter is studying in high school and her son attends a small school in the city. Maria's husband is a telephone technician. The house they live in is their own property, resulting from their collective efforts.

For some 10 years, Maria has been selling cosmetics, trade name Yanbal. Also, for the last 6 months, she has been raising chickens and guinea pigs. Maria is attending lectures by professionals in this project, and putting the lessons in practice, alongside many of her friends, who hope to get ahead in this manner.

Maria's communal bank is in its 7th loan cycle and her new loan will be invested in purchasing construction materials to build a shed for her chickens and guinea pigs.

Maria's goal is to grow and forge ahead in her planned project.
