A loan of $550 helped to buy chickens.

Dolores Azuncion's story

Dolores is a member of the 'Josesito de Cumbe' community bank and lives in Cumbe parish. This area has a cold climate but also beautiful places to visit where people can enjoy being close to nature. The locals raise animals, farm and many go and work in the city every day.

Dolores is 41 years old. She is a single mother and has three children aged 22, 18 and 16. Her eldest daughter is married and lives independently. Her other two children are in school. She does not own her own home but lives together with her mom and shares the household expenses.

Dolores raises livestock such as guinea pigs and hens. She also farms. She sells all of her products and animals in her community.

This is Dolores' fifth loan through her community bank and she will invest it in buying chickens so that she can start this business activity.

Dolores' dream is to own her own home.
