A loan of $1,200 helped to buy seeds and fertilizer for corn and rice.

Bertha Patricia's story

Bertha Patricia is 30 years old. She is married and lives with her two husband and two children, ages 8 years and 3 months, in the canton of Ventanas, province of Los Ríos.

The El Niño Divino (the Divine Child) Rural Communal Bank is located in the Estero Lindo precinct, which belongs to the canton of Ventanas. The members are farmers who cultivate short-cycle crops such as corn and rice.

Bertha makes her living in agriculture and cultivates corn and rice. She buys her supplies from AGRIPAC (a company that engages in the import, distribution, and sale of agro-industry inputs in Ecuador) and sells her produce at the Ventanas wholesale market.

She is requesting this loan to plant corn and rice and to buy seeds and fertilizer for the corn and rice. The support of this loan would help her financially to buy the supplies she needs. She faces challenges such as crop pests and the lack of money to pay more workers. Her dream is to have the capital to buy a house and to have financial stability.

She enjoys taking care of her children and talking with her husband.
