Serfina

Kenya
Kisumu, Kenya / Fish Selling

A loan of $450 helped to stock more fish for her business.

Serfina's story

Serfina is married and has three children aged four to fifteen. She has been selling fish for the last five years and employs four people. Serfina finds that the high price of fish, caused by inflation, is pushing people to eat other types of meats. This is a challenge she faces with her business.

Serfina plans to use her loan to stock more fish. This is her second loan with SMEP. She is a good client who pays her loan well.

Serfina hopes to use the profits from her business to expand it by supplying fish to different parts of the community. She also hopes to sell fish directly to restaurants. Serfina describes herself as outspoken and social.
