Rosa is a member of the “El Mirador” communal bank. She lives in the outskirts of Turi Parish, a place known for being a scenic overlook from where one can see a large portion of the city of Cuenca. Its residents are very kind, dedicated to commerce, livestock raising and agriculture.

Rosa is 35 years old, married and has two children who are 9 and 7 years of age and attend the local little school. Her husband is an artisan working in wrought iron. They do not have a house of their own; they live in her mother’s house but independently.

Rosa works at home making ceramic crafts. She learned this occupation through ability and has been in it for 12 years. She sells her items to a select clientele. She works Sunday to Sunday with no set schedule.

She’s been in the communal bank for a year and she’ll use the loan to buy some ceramic items, paint, lacquer and other materials to continue with her business. Her goal is to increase business and to grow in it.
