A loan of $875 helped to pay her first semester's tuition.

Eunice Esther's story

Eunice lives in the city of Barranquilla’s Carrizal neighborhood, a place noted for the joy of its residents and for the proliferation of productive and independent activities the residents engage in to support their families through honorable work.

Eunice is separated. She gets out of bed every day with the same great dream: to see her daughter who lives in Colombia's capital, Bogotá, to be successful with her family and that her son manages to complete his university education. These are precisely the motivating factors in her daily life.

Eunice has a business selling varied merchandise, a business she learned when she was 15 years old from her mother. She would help her mother collect payments from her customers when she was a merchant.

Eunice is a marvelous, brave, enterprising and disciplined woman which is why she’s managed to get ahead with her two children. In order for her son to reach his level of education dream, she is asking for her first Kiva loan to pay for the first semester of the technical career he wants to go into.

Eunice has gotten 36 loans from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. Her greatest wish is to strengthen her business in order to be more solvent in future because through her 17-year association with this organization, that has supported her with loans, business training and advice, she’s managed to increase the level of wellbeing and strengthen her family.
