Nora's story

Nora is a member of the “Lideres Triunfadoras” (Triumphant Leaders) Communal Bank of the Calleria district in Ucayali department. She is 54 years old, a widow, and has 5 adult children.

With her 1st loan from Manuela Ramos she bought her 1st sewing machine. Nora has collaborated with Manuela Ramos for 5 years, sewing custom-made dresses. She has a small shop installed in her house and 2 machines to help her give a good finish to the items of clothing she makes.

With her new loan of 2,500 new sols, she will buy 8 bales of cloth, 5 meters of towel cloth, 4 meters of cloth for pants, ¼ of a hundred of zippers, and buttons of different sizes and models.

Only 1 of Nora's children is still under her care, and she needs time to attend to household matters and her son. Only when she has a lot of work does she spend all day at her machine and goes out into the street to eat, to manage to complete her customer's orders.

To help her son, she will continue working until he finishes his career education. Nora is very grateful to Manuela Ramos for providing this opportunity to improve her life and that of her son, which in these moments she greatly needs.
