A loan of $1,100 helped to buy rice, sugar, oil, meat and groceries to prepare her food.

Gloria Bernice's story

Gloria is a member of the “Brigada Ramírez” community bank which is located in Lamas district and province, in San Martín department. She is 47 years old, married, and has two children who are in college.

A friend asked Gloria to provide her with bed and board and she saw an opportunity to start her own business and become financially independent. Her friend recommended her to other customers and she thereby started selling food in her own home. She now not only provides bed and board but also sells food to the general public. Her customers prefer to buy from her because of the good flavor of her food and the good customer service that she provides.

Gloria will use this loan for 3,000 Peruvian soles to buy products and ingredients wholesale for preparing her food such as rice and sugar by the sack, oil and vegetables.

Gloria is a hard-working and creative woman. Her dream is to own another business selling groceries which will enable her to grow financially. She is very grateful to Movimiento Manuela Ramos for providing women such as herself with the opportunity to get ahead in life.
