Marcelina's story

Ms. Marcelina completed a primary school education. Now she sells tortillas, as well as suppers at night. She has three children, all sons. Aside from selling food, she also sells shoes by catalog. She is a very hard-working woman and her sons help her with the household tasks since she is out selling shoes in the morning. When she returns, she has to prepare things for selling dinners. Her sons also help her tend to customers.

Marcelina is a woman who has helped her husband with the expenses ever since they were married. She likes having her own business so that she can depend on herself and not on her husband.

She is requesting a loan to buy more ingredients to prepare various foods, so that her customers will want to return. Her greatest dream is to set up a restaurant where she would sell breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so that she could continue supporting her children until they could finish their studies.

Marcelina is very happy because she is achieving her dreams thanks to Fundación Realidad and Kiva, who provide support so that every hard-working woman can get ahead.
