A loan of $750 helped to buy construction material (sand, iron, sheet metal, cement, stone, and other materials).

Justina's story

She was born in the city of Matola in Maputo province in southern Mozambique. She is a single mother of one daughter who is five-years-old. She completed seven years of schooling and stopped when she began to work and never had time to return to her studies. She lives in employee housing with her daughter and maintains her mother by sending money for food expenses.

She was born in Matola and later left for Boane to look for work. She has been a permanent employee for 16 years and has a monthly salary of 4,700 meticais (Mozambique currency) which she uses for her household expenses and saves some of in her bank account.

She has already taken out a loan with Barclays in the amount of 30,000 meticais which she use to acquire and pay for permits for a parcel of land which she was able to pay off with no difficulty. She heard of Hluvuku through friends who are also customers of this institution. This is her second loan with Hluvuku in the amount of 20,000 meticais which she intends to use to buy construction materials such as sand, iron, sheet metal, cement, stone, and other materials. Her first loan was for 15,000 meticais and was used for the same purpose. She is confident that she will be able to pay it off with no problems. Her hope is to finish her building project and move to give her family greater comfort and to do this she plans to request more loans.
