A loan of $300 helped to buy raw materials for making food, and to buy an awning.

Jorge Luis's story

Jorge is 44 years old and lives in the city of Cartagena with his wife and children aged 10 to 18. On the terrace outside his house, he sells fried food and fast food. He started this business with a lot of dreams and is supported by his wife. They are in agreement as to their need to make income for the household and to get their family ahead in life.

Jorge carries out his business every day but he makes most sales on weekends. He sells most of his products for cash though he does sell a small portion on credit. His dream is to own his own home and to expand his business so that he can continue feeling more prosperous. This Kiva loan is Jorge's first loan through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo and he will use it to buy raw materials for preparing his food, and an awning to protect his business and his customers from the burning sun and the rain that they are now exposed to owing to their location on the North Caribbean coast of Colombia complete with sun, beach, breeze and sea.
