A loan of $625 helped to buy cosmetics on special offer.

Ruth's story

Ruth is 50 years old and lives in the city of Cartagena where she sells merchandise such as cosmetics and costume jewelry. This business activity has enabled her to make income for her household which consists of her four children aged 22 to 30. Ruth buys footwear, perfume and costume jewelry and distributes them to her customers through a credit system. She is repaid according to a pre-arranged schedule. Ruth has currently started making inroads into selling a new line of cosmetics which she displays in her display cabinet and constantly promotes amongst her existing and potential customers.

Ruth's dream is to own her own home and increase her infrastructure until she has a store which is located in a very busy commercial area. This Kiva loan is Ruth's first loan from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo and she will use it to buy cosmetics that come in packets, on special offer. These products have been ordered by her customers. Her investment will be successful because she works to order. She will be able to expand her offerings to new customers. She would like to make an impact on these customers so that she can achieve better coverage.
