A loan of $925 helped to buy cocoa bean plants.

Aydee's story

Aydee, 30, is an enthusiastic, hardworking young woman. She lives in her own house with her spouse, Erasmo, 32, and their two beloved children who she wants to provide a better quality of life for. Aydee has worked her parents’ land since she was a young girl with accumulated savings plus the inheritance she got from them. Today, she has 3 hectares of land that she works with much dedication and has made quite productive. She grows cocoa beans, coffee and barbasco (an evergreen shrub) root, products that she then takes to sell to at the gathering centers in the cities of San Francisco and Santa Rosa where she sells them at wholesale.

Her crops have produced the income necessary to support herself and to cover family expenses. What she most enjoys about her work is caring for the plants because it makes her happy to do so. She’s been in this line of work for 10 years and considers the most difficult part having to transport her products from the field to the drying spaces located in her community so she hires day laborers to help her do this.

She will use the requested loan to buy more cocoa bean plants to graft so that she can have fruit sooner. In the future, she’d like to buy new land to increase crops. This will be loan #2 with MFP so she’s hoping for a small loan that will help her meet her objectives. She also commits once again to make her installment payments like she did with the previous loan. In addition, she enjoys being part of a communal bank because all the members are responsible people. She will use the requested 2500 new soles to buy cocoa bean plants to later graft them and produce fruit in less time.
