A loan of $2,025 helped a member to buy more sacks of charcoal to sell.


Mamba Group's story

Mariam, who is in her early 30s, is married with two children who go to school. She has had a charcoal business for one year now. She works from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and is able to make a small monthly profit.

This will be her third loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to increase her charcoal stock and pay school fees, other school expenses and household expenses. She has paid back all her loans successfully. She wants a loan to buy more sacks of charcoal to sell. Her dream is to one day be able to buy land.

She will share this loan with her loan group "Mamba" which has a total of 15 members who will hold each other accountable in paying back their loans.
