A loan of $550 helped to purchase soft drinks and mineral water.

Madeleine's story

Madeleine is a member of the communal bank "La Lupuna". It is located in the district of Calleria, in the department of Ucayali. She is 34 years old and she is the single mother of one girl (a minor) who is school aged.

She sells drinks from her home. She has a refrigerator and it is very helpful. She doesn't sell very much. She is profiting from her free time. At the moment she is managing this business and although she doesn't earn very much she's giving it a try. Given that she is a single mother she needs to find a way to provide for her daughter's expenses.

With her new loan, amounting to S/.1500 nuevos soles, she will purchase: 2 crates of soft drinks, 2 packages of drinking boxes, 1 package of mineral water, and 2 packages of large soft drink bottles. At the next loan cycle she hopes to be able to request a larger loan to invest in more merchandise. She is thankful to Manuela Ramos (Kiva Field Partner) for all of the opportunities given to women in this part of the country.
