Musa's Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present to you teachers of a Technical Vocational Institute, based in Kenema, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers has come to SMT/Kiva lenders to request a loan of 4,500,000 Sierra Leone leones (SLL) in order to meet their various personal financial needs. Some of them will invest their loans in businesses, some will use theirs to pay school fees for their children, others will buy house-building materials, and some will buy pieces of furniture such as a bed or chairs. Musa is a teacher at the school and the leader of this group. He is 55 years old and was born in Bandaju. Musa is married with six children, three of whom are attending primary and secondary schools. Musa is an experienced teacher and has been in the teaching profession for 35 years now. He has requested this loan in order to buy house-building materials for the construction of a family house and to pay school fees for his children.
