Chacaritas (Cuenca) Group's story

The Chacaritas (Small Farm) Community Bank is made up of four women and two men who are friends and acquaintances. They live in the same community in the outskirts of the town of Cuenca. This is a place where the people work the land by farming and raising animals. Our members work in different activities that allow them to economically support their homes and families. One of the members of this group is Miss. Elsa. She is 28 years old, single and has a son that is one and a half years old. She lives with her parents. She shares the cost of living expenses with her parents. Her father is a bricklayer and her mother raises animals. They rent their house. Miss Elsa works with cows and sells the milk that she gets from the cows. She slso works in agrictulture. They grow what they eat in the house and sell the rest. This is her first loan with the community bank. She is going to use the loan money to buy pigs as she would like to start this new activity. Her goal is to grow her business.
