A loan of $775 helped to buy natural products like vitamins and weight loss products.

Alfarina Diofilda's story

In Los Bajos de Montecristi, a city known for its great variety of traditional products like the straw hats famous both nationally and internationally, the members of the “La Dolorosa Del Pechiche” communal bank meet every two weeks.

Alfarina is a founding member of the communal bank. She’s been in it for 16 years and likes it because they have always helped her a lot with the loans. She’s 52 years old, married and has four children who are all adults now but the youngest one still lives with her and is attending university. A five-year-old granddaughter, who is like a daughter to her, also lives with her and is going to school. Her husband’s a farmer.

She is both a housewife and a merchant. She sells Omnilife brand products door to door although most of her products are for delivery because she has lots of customers that use these products to improve their health and their state of mind. She tells us that she used to have a button factory but due to illness had to leave it to one of her children because she could no longer do the work. Now, she’s been a merchant for over 7 years and is doing very well.

This loan is to buy natural products like vitamins and weight loss products, among other things. Her dream is to stay in business and that her son become a professional.
