A loan of $375 helped to buy cacao seeds.

Hernan's story

Hernán is 36 years old and native of the community of Palmapampa, which is part of the city of San Miguel. He lives with Elena, age 34, and they have two children. Hernán and his family live in their own home made of basic materials. With great care, he was able to convert his parcels of land into green pastures surrounded by lush trees. Hernán grows cacao and coffee, and has been farming for 13 years. He receives assistance from his workers. Hernán says that when he was a boy, he learned how to work the land as a result of the lessons bestowed on him by his parents. Today he works on his own land. His most profitable crop is coffee because he is able to sell it at a good price. As a result of his earnings, Hernán was able to buy more land so that he could cultivate hardwood trees. The months from June through August are when most of his crops are planted. For this reason, Hernán approached MFP about applying for a loan so that he could continue with one of his goals of planting more cacao. He intends to continue planting and acquiring more land so that he can rise above poverty.

This will be his second loan. Hernán is very pleased to know that he will have the financial support so that he can move forward with his plans. The loan of 1000 PEN that he requested will be used to buy cacao seeds.
