A loan of $375 helped to buy nutritional food for her poultry.

Estilita's story

36-year old Estilita lives in her own house with her partner and their four children. Her house is located in the village of Monteverde Bajo, Tambogrande district, in Piura department. As this is a rural area, Estilita’s home does not have services such as electricity and water.

Estilita mades and sells chicha (a traditional Peruvian drink made from corn). She makes the chicha at home. As she has been doing this work for several years, she has regular customers. As well, she raises poultry which she sells in the local market once their ideal size and weight has been reached.

Estilita wishes to obtain more supplies for making chicha so she expand into a larger distribution area. She also wants to buy nutritional food for the poultry. As a result, she has approached Kiva partner Edpyme Alternativa for a loan of 1,000 soles.

Estilita has good references and is eager to expand her business so she can make progress in life. Together with her family, as time passes she wishes to have a better standard of living.
