A loan of $1,100 helped to buy a bull, a cow, sheep, and fodder to fatten them.

Eugenia's story

Eugenia is a member of the communal bank "Virgen de la Asunción” (Virgin of the Assumption), located in the district and province of Yunguyo, in the department of Puno. She is 57 years old. She is married and has 6 children (4 independent). She went to school up to the 5th year of primary education.

Eugenia works in the sale of home-raised animals, sheep, and cattle. She has worked with the Manuela Ramos Movement for eight years. Her first loan was for the sum of 300 PEN, money which she invested in her business of selling home-raised animals. With this new loan of 3000 PEN, she will buy a bull, a cow, sheep, and fodder to fatten them for three months. She buys them in Huacullani. She also raises chickens, hogs, and guinea pigs. She works in her business alone; her husband works for the municipality. Her dream is to have more capital in order to have good livestock and to obtain more earnings.

What she likes about the communal bank is the organization and the understanding of her loan officer.
