A loan of $1,100 helped to purchase two cows for fattening and resale.

Isidora's story

Isidora is a member of the communal bank "Virgen D. la Asunción,” located in the district and province of Yunguyo, department of Puno. She is 63 years old, widowed, and has two children who are independent. Isidora has studied through the second year of elementary school.

She has been working for six years with the Manuela Ramos movement. Her initial loan was for 500 Peruvian soles, a loan she used to invest in regional grain sales. She also works buying and selling livestock such as sheep and cattle.

With her new loan of 3,000 Peruvian soles she will purchase two cows for their respective fattening for four months, in order then to sell them at a better price. Her daughter helps her in the business.

Her dream is to have more capital in order to have a cheese-making plant and thus improve her income. What she likes about the communal bank is its punctuality and the earnings she makes on her savings.
