Maribel's story

The member belongs to the CHOQUEQUIRAO” communal bank, in the Huanchac district in the Province and Department of Cusco.

The member is Señora Maribel; she is 33 years old and has one son. The member dedicates herself to buying and selling handicrafts; she also makes chullos (traditional woollen hats), gloves, and alpaca wool ponchos. In addition, she makes fine blankets with traditional designs and embroiders them with country motifs such as trees, birds, flowers, rivers, and animals - all the flora and fauna of the Andes. The member has had a small workshop in her house for 7 years, and is very happy that she can create this beautiful traditional art. She wishes to buy spun alpaca wool, buttons, and needles wholesale, to be able to carry on her business, and also to enable her to make hangings and clothing for saints, to order. The member is seeking a loan to invest in materials for making blankets, hangings, clothing for saints, chullos, and other things.

The member states that she is very satisfied with and grateful for the support offered, and promises to comply with the repayment of her loan in the place agreed.
