A loan of $600 helped to purchase beehives with bee-colonies and fertilizers.

Josef's story

Josef is 47 years old. He comes from village Shemokmedi, West Georgia. Josef lives with his wife Manana and their 7 year old son. The son goes to school.

The only source of income for the family is agriculture. In particular, the family has 5 milk cows. They sell milk and other dairy products at the local market. Also, they have 500 nut trees. Harvested nuts are sold to the wholesalers, seasonally. Josef also runs a bee-keeping business, which consists of 20 beehives. Total average monthly income of the family is 390 Laris (GEL-Georgian Lari).

Josef has requested credit for purchasing an additional 3-4 bee-hives and bee-colonies. Also, a small part of the credit will be used to purchase fertilizers for fertilizing the land in the nut-garden. As a result of these investments, the family will get more honey and increased harvest of nuts in the relevant seasons. These increases will positively influence the income of the family. Josef and Manana hope that the increase in income will allow them to renovate their house to make it more comfortable and quiet.
