A loan of $1,000 helped to buy supplies, fertilizers and manure for his crops.

Omar Leonardo's story

Omar Leonardo is 44 years old and married. He lives with his wife and his children, who are 12 and 15, in El Progreso, in Chillanes canton.

The 'El Progreso' community bank is located 15 minutes from our Chillanes office and has 13 members. This is the third loan that they are requesting from Cooperativa San José. The members of this bank are farmers who grow cacao, corn, bananas, soy and cassava.

Omar is a farmer who grows cacao, corn, bananas, soy and cassava on his own land. He makes his purchases in Chillanes and San Pablo and makes his sales in the Sunday market in Chillanes.

This loan will help Omar to buy supplies, fertilizers and manure for his crops. Loans have supported him and helped increase his crop production. He has faced challenges such as illnesses amongst his workers, pest infestations and plant diseases. His dream is to enjoy good health so that he can continue working and educating his children.

In his spare time, he enjoys going for walks with his family.
