A loan of $375 helped to buy construction material (cement, sand, and others).

Ana Paula's story

She was born in the Maputo province. She is 34-years-old, is married, and is the mother to three children ranging from four to 17-years-old, all of whom go to school. She completed her seventh year of schooling but didn’t finish school because of the war. She lives in her own home with her family and isn’t responsible for anyone else.

After the war she began to work to try to help her mother with household expenses because she is the oldest and had to care for the younger children. Her husband helped her get a job in the Colégio Maria Auxiliadora, a school taught by the Salesian Nuns, where she works as a monitor supervising the three-year-old children in the Children’s Center. She has now worked with them for three years on an annual contract that is renewed every year. She works from 7AM to 3PM earning 2,473 meticais (currency of Mozambique) monthly which she uses for household expenses and construction costs. She also has the help of her husband who is a tailor.

She has never worked with other banks, this is her first loan with Hluvuku in the amount of 10,000 meticais which she plans to use to buy construction materials (cement, sand, and others) to finish working on her house. She plans to pay it back with no problems in order to have access to other loans in the future.
