Arcos De Miacatlan Group's story

This group is called “Arcos de Miacatlan” (Arches of Miacatlan). The name reflects a set of arches that are located near where the group meets and help to identify this town which is located in the State of Morelos in Mexico. There are nine members in this group and this is the fourth time they have requested a loan.

Mayra is a member of the group. She is 33 years old and studied to pursue a business career as a secretary. Mayra works as a merchant and has two daughters. She sells clothing at her business which she started five years ago. Mayra is requesting a loan to buy stockings, socks, and a few school uniforms for children. Her customers prefer to do business with her because she delivers her merchandise to their homes. Upon requesting her loan, Mayra was pleased because she would be able to obtain merchandise before the school season started again. She also hopes to earn enough money to buy school supplies for her children since they can be expensive. Mayra wants her children to be prepared for the new school year. She says that it is very important that her children have an education because it will open opportunities for them to have a better life.

In this group: Maria Isabel, Julia, Mayra Elizabeth, Isabel, Zandra Elizabeth, Valentina, Sugey, Susana, Francisca
