A loan of $4,225 helped a member to buy more materials and lining to sew more dresses to sell.


Mjimwema Group's story

Maria, who is in her mid 20s, is married with one child who goes to school. She has had a tailoring business since 1999. She works from 6am to 6pm daily and is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be her ninth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used her previous loans to buy materials, a big stock of threads, buttons, school fees and household expenses. She has paid back all her loans successfully. She hopes for a loan to buy more materials and lining for sewing more dresses to sell. Her dream is to one day build her own house.

She will share this loan with her loan group "Mjimwema", which has a total of 15 members who will hold each other accountable in paying back their loans.
