A loan of $1,100 helped to repair her oven.

Milagros's story

Milagros is 33 years old and continues to live in the place in which she was born. She lives in her own home with her husband and three children.

In search of business opportunities, and at the recommendation of her mother-in-law, Milagros started making oven-roasted suckling pig. She now has 11 years experience in selling this food. As it is a traditional dish in her area, her sales have remained stable and she always makes sure that she has the basic ingredient for her meal which are the pigs that she buys on weekends. She then dresses them and prepares them. Milagros has her own oven where she cooks. She fills customers' orders for large events and also sells in the markets. She is helped by her sister-in-law and her mother-in-law who also sell this product. She considers the business to be very profitable and it rewards the effort that she puts in. Her wish is to improve and stock her business so that she can prepare better-quality dishes.

Milagros has been working with MFP through 17 group loans. She feels very proud of this. She shows her commitment by being a member of the board of directors of her community bank. They have placed their trust in her and she feels very satisfied as a result. Milagros will invest the money that she has requested in repairing her oven as it has collapsed owing to the bad way in which it was constructed. It is urgent that she have it repaired as she considers it her essential work tool. For the time being, she is working with her mother-in-law's oven. However, the season when she makes most sales is approaching.
