Khetam is a 28-year-old woman. Her husband is a Palestinian National Authority employee in Jabalia Refugee Camp in Gaza Strip. Khetam took out a loan from FATEN to purchase living room furniture that they couldn't purchase when she got married. She was using plastic chairs instead. Now that she learned about FATEN, she took out the loan to pay for the furniture and pay the loan back on a daily basis. Khetam is a conservative woman. Therefore, her husband is photographed instead in FATEN's Branch office.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
