A loan of $550 helped to buy 15 bags of thread.

Elvira's story

Elvira is 43 years old and lives in the town of San Pedro D. Cajas. She is noted as being a very cheerful and hard-working woman. She lives in her own home together with her husband Cesar and her three children who she loves very much.

Elvira is engaged in several business activities but what she most enjoys is weaving. During the day, she weaves 'chullos' (knitted hats with earflaps), scarves and gloves on her loom. She very much enjoys this activity and does her work very skilfully. She sells her products from her small stall which is located in a craft center in San Pedro D. Cajas. Her customers buy her products very quickly.

Elvira also grows potatoes and does this once a year. This means that her soil is more fertile and provides a good product which makes her good profits. She also receives support from her husband who has a small community radio station in the town.

In the future, Elvira hopes to save up enough money to set up a bigger store selling woven handicrafts where she can sell her products more peacefully. She is a member of the "Mujeres al Futuro" community bank and this is her ninth loan from MFP. She hopes to receive your cooperation so that she can continue achieving her goals. For her part, she pledges once again to make her repayments on time. With your support, Elvira will invest the money that she has requested in buying 15 bags of thread in different colors so that she can continue weaving her products.
