A loan of $450 helped to purchase saltwater fish, smoked fish, ocean fish, jugs of oil and bags of onions.

Elva's story

A 32-year-old client, married with 3 children ranging from 2 to 12 years old. In 2007, after earning her technical degree, and being unable to find work, she opened a restaurant where she sells dishes of freshwater and saltwater fish, meat broth, and grilled fish.

She brings in an average of 27,000 to 35,000 Congolese francs each day, and her potential customers are salespeople in the market that she sells in.

Once she receives her loan, she plans on purchasing supplies that she is having difficulty affording right now: boxes of sole, nile perch, boxes of oxtail, boxes of cod, a 25-liter jug of oil, equipment for her restaurant and several table settings.

In the future, she wants to save her profits to open a modern restaurant.
