A loan of $325 helped to buy supplies, fertilizers and manure for growing cassava.

Severiano Jose's story

Severiano is 42 years old and lives in Chacaraseca, a small community in León. He has three children and works as a farmer. He received a basic education. He only finished his fourth year of elementary school. Severiano started out at 27 years of age. His first business was farming, growing sesame, corn and cassava. He had the help of an uncle who gave him the tools he needed to farm. He then continued working on his own, growing cassava, gradually making progress. Severiano also raises livestock and this makes him additional income. He needs this loan to buy supplies, fertilizers and manure for growing cassava (vegetable). With this investment, he plans to obtain a good-quality production. His next goal is to sow two 'manzanas' (one 'manzana' = 1.68 acres) of land with vegetables such as squash and cucumber.
