A loan of $1,025 helped to purchase fertilizers and insecticides and to pay workers.

Teimuraz's story

Teimuraz comes from the village of Sagholasheni, Kareli District. He is 47 years old and lives with his wife, Inga, 20 year-old daughter and 18 year-old son. The son and daughter are in school. Teimuraz and Inga earn a living through farming activities. They cultivate a family-owned 1.5 hectare plot of land. They grow tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, onions, haricot beans and strawberries. Harvested vegetables and berries are sold locally in the village to the green grocery retailers, as well as to the local population.

This is the high season in farming. Teimuraz requested a loan for purchasing fertilizers and insecticides as well as for paying workers who help the family fertilize and treat vegetables with different parasites. The family will get a better harvest and a good income from sales. Teimuraz and Inga plan to use part of the income for the children’s education and the other part for covering the family’s daily expenses.
