A loan of $950 helped a member to buy stock items for her grocery store.

Monte Verde Group's story

The group is called Monte Verde (Green Mountain) and is located in Ribera Benito Juárez. The woman who was interviewed is Victoria. She’s married to Santos and they have three children still in their care. They are: Reynol, 20, Irving, 15, and the youngest, Bladímir, 13.

She is a grocer and asked for the loan to invest in merchandise like: sugar, beans, oil and soap, among others, so that the customers will find what they are looking for. The store is located in her daughter’s house.

Her inspiration for this activity was to have better family income, to have better control over her financial solvency and to support her children who are studying. She relies on help from her husband, who works in the fields, as well.

What she most wants with this activity and with the loan is to be able to continue working to be able to have her own savings and in time manage to have a home-based business of her own.

The people who make up the group are:

María Celinda, who will use the loan to buy stock items for her grocery store,

Guadalupe, who will use the loan to buy thread, needles and fabric to make clothes, and lastly,

Flor de Luz, who will buy clothes to resell in the same community.

In this group: Flor De Luz, Maria Celinda, Victoria , Guadalupez
