Khady's story

The borrower is a 46-year old single woman. She lives with her mother, brother and sisters. She sells food products. In the past, she used to travel to the neighboring countries to stock up on clothing and cosmetics, which she sold on credit to clients who would pay her back within a month. Many unpaid debts have forced her to stop this business. She has opened a small shop in front of her home in order to sell foodstuffs. She has been struggling to provide for the hefty expenses of food, healthcare and clothing for herself and her family. These difficulties have led her to open an account with IMCEC, where she obtained two loans, in the amount of 300,000 francs and 100,000 francs, repaid fully without delays. Now, after having been able to put aside 52,399 francs, she is seeking another loan of 200,000 francs in order to bolster her business. She plans to buy 10 bags of onions, 10 bags of cabbage, five bags of peppers, three cartons of local tomatoes, two bags of soap and two bags of sugar. She hopes that expending her stock will increase her income, allowing her to improve the family’s nutrition, and also cover the expenses related to healthcare and clothing. Her goal is to build a big grocer store in her house, which is located on the side of a big road.
