A loan of $900 helped to buy plastic ware, such as baskets, cups, and basins.

Marie Irene Ida's story

This is a 49-year-old woman who is married and the mother of five children, aged 10 to 22 years. Having dropped out of school early due to a lack of financial support, she got started in commerce selling plastic ware, sandals, candy, and cookies in 1990 in order to alleviate the financial crisis and to support her family. Her daily income varies from 20,000 to 25,000 francs. As the treasurer of her group, she has conducted her group well and has proven herself by repaying the previous loan.

With this third loan, she intends to bolster her business by buying some plastic ware, such as baskets, cups, basins, bowls, and buckets, and some sweets (candies, Kwik cookies, telephone cookies, chocolate cookies), sandals (slip, soutien), and many other items.

Her strategy is to fix up her display in order to attract more customers, accommodate them, and save money from day to day.

Her vision is to have a big store in the future and to acquire a plot of land, and to put her children in a good environment. She is a good example for the women in her district.
