Olga Cristina

Ecuador
Portoviejo, Ecuador / Natural Medicines

A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase various natural products, as well as water and sodas.

Olga Cristina's story

The Communal Bank “Las Américas” meets every 15 days in the city of Portoviejo, the capital of Manabí. This city has been known since colonial times as the city of “Reales Tamarindos” because of the large number of tamarind trees that continue to exist today.

It is here that one can meet Sra. Olga. She is 65 years of age. Olga is currently single, but she was in a relationship for many years. She has two children (ages 34 and 22) who live with her and are studying at the university. Olga has been with the Communal Bank since the beginning and says she appreciates the way Fundación ESPOIR has worked with her. The loans have already helped many people like her.

Olga is a wonderful homemaker, but she has also worked as a merchant for many years so that her children would not lack anything. She has a small shop in her home where she sells natural products made by Nature Garden as well as mobile phone cards, water, sodas, and gelatin. Olga works every day from 9am to 7pm. Among the products that she sells the most are “Vita Toro” (an energy supplement), Spirulina, “Vita Cerebral” (a supplement to enhance memory and cognition), anti-cellulite gel, and other items. She obtains her products from a distributor in Portoviejo. Olga says that thanks to God, she has always done well and was able to provide a good education for her children.

This loan will be used to buy natural products, water, and sodas. Her dream is to own a home since she currently lives in a rental property.
