A loan of $550 helped to buy bags of fufu (a staple West and Central African food).

Marceline's story

This woman is 51 years old, married, and has four children who are between the ages 13 and 27, and also has one additional person in her care. With her CEP (local community fund), she became a retailer of fufu (a staple food eaten in West and Central Africa) in 1997 with 150,000 FCFA worth of capital.

The market where she runs her business is among the largest and most-visited in the capital. Her sales vary from 10,000F to 20,000F per day.

With the current (her second) loan, she would like to buy 6 bags of fufu.

As a good mother, she takes special care of her children, including helping those who are already independent with their businesses, and providing for the education of the younger ones.
