A loan of $1,100 helped to buy rice, sugar, oil, and canned products to supply her grocery store.

Maria's story

María is 46 years old, she lives with her partner Juan, aged 47, and they have 2 children, Waldir, 18 and Yesenia, 14, who are the reason behind their efforts. They all live in their own house in Puerto Mayo, a community of the Pichari district. Since she was a child, María liked helping her parents with the tasks they commended to her, but when her parents suffered a serious economic loss, María had to abandon school and star working, thus contributing to the family expenses and little by little helping the family getting by. Today she runs a grocery store, and she comments that she has learnt many things from her parents, such as being prepared in the most difficult times: this is why she is always cautious when taking decisions about her activity. She usually works alone, though occasionally her partner helps her. This is her second loan with MFP, and she commits to being punctual in the repayment of her dues. María is satisfied with the job done by her communal bank. The 3.000 PEN she is requesting will be used to buy more products such as rice, sugar, oil, and canned products to supply her grocery store.
