Hellen's story

Hellen lives in Uganda. She is married and has 4 children, all of whom are in school. She lives in a home that she rents; she has access to electricity and piped water. Her major monthly expenses include school fees, rent and feeding the family. Hellen has a food stall where she sells yellow and sweet bananas. She has been in this business for 5 years, and she works 7 days a week. She sells her products at the market, by means of wholesale. She has requested a loan of 600,000 Ugandan Shillings from MCDT SACCO, which she will use to buy more bunches of yellow and sweet bananas. Her main business challenges include seasonality and defaulters. Her goal for her business is to start getting her yellow bananas directly from farmers.
