A loan of $550 helped to purchase sacks of organic fertilizer and farming tools.

Nelyda's story

Nelyda is 39 years old and lives in the native community of Shankivironi in the central Peruvian jungle. She and her husband Blaferdin have been married for 20 years and have five children, but only two live with them: Bárbara and Maricielo. They care for them with a lot of love in their own home.

The land in Sankivironi is very fertile, and produces a variety of foods. Nelyda has worked for four years planting beans, avocado, annatto, bananas, and corn in her six fields of fertile land. She has a total of ten fields of land that can be cultivated, but she does not have the money to plant them. The things she likes best about her work is to be able to spend most of her time in the fields, because she likes to be active. She also receives help from her husband, who helps when he has free time. He also works in construction as a bricklayer and plants green chiles, which are prized by Peruvian exporting companies. Currently, she is concentrating on maintaining her avocado and banana crops that she will harvest in about two weeks. She is sure she will earn a good profit.

Nelyda is a member of the community bank Los Clavelitos de Shankivironi, and this is her fifth loan with MFP, where she waits for their financial support to achieve her goals. She promises once again to make her loan payments on time, as she has done with past loans. She is thankful to be part of her community bank because all the members are responsible and supportive people. Nelyda will invest this loan in the purchase of organic fertilizer for her crops and tools that she needs to expand her fields.
