Delfina's story

Delfina is a kind 46 year old woman who is married to Andrés, who is 36 years old. They have one child, José, who is 5 years old. The three of them live in upper basin of the center jungle in the community of Las Palmas. The green fields of the basin are very fertile. The majority of the inhabitants work cultivating varities of pineapple.

For four years, she has worked cultivating pineapple, citrus, and cacao. She gets up very early to be able to clean her plantings of the weeds that constantly grow in her fields. Thanks to the care she provides, all of her harvest is recognized for its good quality and in growing seasons, merchants visit her fields to purchase her products. Now, in a few months, she will harvest acres of oranges and tangelos, which already have a buyer. Seeing the demand for her products, Delfina is thinking of acquiring more fields so she can meet the demands of her customers. With the fields, she will earn more profits to improve the quality of her crops, and earn more income to provide her son with a good education.

She belongs to the community bank Las Palmeras, and this is her fifth loan with MFP. She hopes to continue their collaboration to advance with her objectives. She promises once again to make her payments on time, as she did with past loans she has had. She is also thankful to be part of the community bank because all of the members are responsible and supportive people. Delfina will use this loan to purchase organic fertilizer for her citrus and pineapple crops, so that she can keep them in good condition.
