A loan of $1,100 helped to purchase thirty sheep.

Maruja's story

Maruja is a member of the San Miguel Arcángel II community bank, located in the Ilave district in the El Collao province in the department of Puno. She is 40 years old, married, and has two children. She went to secondary school.

She began working with the Movimiento Manuela Ramos more than a year ago. Her first loan was for 500 nuevos soles, and she invested it in her grocery store. Currently, she works buying and selling lamb meat.

With this new loan of 3000 nuevos soles, she will purchase 30 animals for their meat. She will buy the animals in Acora, Camichachi, and Chipani and will sell them in the market in Ilave. Her husband helps with the business, and also works as a taxi driver.

Her dream is to put a roof on her house and for her children to be professionals.

The things she likes about the community bank are the talks, because she learns about business.
