A loan of $575 helped to buy a mirror, a barber's chair and a hair washing basin.

Judith Maria's story

Judith, 44, is married and has three children between 16 and 25 years old. She lives in Barranquilla, where she has had a hairdresser and beauty salon since 2000, when she graduated from a beauty academy. She initially did haircuts, manicures, pedicures, and styling for her friends from home. Over time, people began to seek her out, and, through word of mouth, she built up a full-time business. She loves her line of work, especially the make-up, which is her strong point. Both her children, now working professionals, and her husband always help her with expenses, as they are a close family. This is her first loan with the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation. She will use it to buy a mirror, a barber's chair and a hair-washing basin. This will make her clients more comfortable. She has a profit margin of 60%, which she hopes to increase as she diversifies her offerings with new services in the future.
