A loan of $1,100 helped to purchase a plot of land for planting cacao.

Lizbet's story

Lizbet is 24 years old and in a common-law marriage with Félix, age 26. They have two children, Katherine (age 7) and Gabriel (age 4). They live together in their own home in the community of Puerto Mayo in the District of Pichari. Lizbet will never forget the afternoons of her youth when she watched her grandparents plow their land and plant cacao seedlings. From that point, she wanted to become a farmer and grow her own cacao. To pursue this business, she learned new farming techniques. Lizbet has the help of her beloved husband, but she also hires workers during the harvest season. At the moment, there is plenty of demand for her product on a national and international level. This explains why she is pleased with the earnings she generates from the sale of her product at the local collection centers.

Going forward, Lizbet plans to buy more land so that she can compete on an equal level with her neighbors. This will be her third loan with MFP and she promises to be prompt with her payments. Her loan of 3000 PEN will be used to buy another plot of land so that she can plant more cacao.
