A loan of $625 helped to purchase perfumes, crèmes, cosmetics, and trinkets.

Verónica Alexandra's story

The members of the Communal Bank “Subidita al Cielo” meet every 15 days in an area with the same name in the city of Portoviejo. This marginal urban area is the most populated section of the city.

It is here that one can meet Sra. Verónica. She is 20 years old and in a common-law relationship. Verónica has a son who is 3½ years old. Her husband is a taxi driver.

This housewife utilized her own resources to sell merchandise produced by Yanbal (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, and women’s accessories). She sells door-to-door and works three days per week during her free time. There are days when she works up to four hours. Verónica offers her products on credit and collects payment either weekly or every 15 days. She has been in business for two years and has done very well. The products that she sells the most are men’s and women’s perfumes since these items are of high quality.

This loan will be used to buy perfumes, crèmes, cosmetics, and trinkets. She has been a member of the Communal Bank from the beginning and likes the fact that the process of obtaining a loan is easy. Her dream is to have a home of her own since she currently pays rent.
