A loan of $2,475 helped a member to purchase glassware.

Santa Barbara Group's story

The Santa Barbara Communal Bank is starting its third loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Santiago II Community Center. This group consists of eight members and is led by a Board of Directors led by Sra. Nancy. The members of this Communal Bank engage in different retail businesses selling phone minutes, utensils, detergents, sportswear, bricks, videos, baby clothes, embroideries, candy, and soup.

Sra. Nancy says that she joined Pro Mujer twelve years ago after receiving an invitation. She currently has a glassware business where she has worked for the past 17 years. Nancy learned this trade from her husband.

The loan she is receiving now will be used to increase her capital for buying glassware. The products that she buys are imported and she sells them every day from her shop. Working in this manner makes it possible for her to generate income to support her family. Nancy is married and has three children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Nancy said she enjoys everything.

In this group: Nancy, Rose Marie, Salome, Erika Esther , Eulogia Florentina , Ines , Zara, Maria Del Rosario
