A loan of $725 helped to hire laborers to weed her cacao plantings.

Dina's story

25 year-old Dina is a single mother who lives with her 6 year-old son, in a rental house, in Pichari district. Dina will never forget the afternoons of her youth when she watched her grandparents turn over the soil and plant cacao seeds. This is why she chose to work in farming, specifically growing cacao, in order to make the most of her grandparents' legacy. She does this work on her own plot of land, introducing new growing techniques and with the support of her family. She also hires laborers during the harvest season.

Cacao is currently in great demand both at a national and international level. For this reason, Dina feels satisfied with the profits that she makes when she sells her product to the middlemen in her town. This will be her second loan from MFP and she pledges to be punctual in making her repayments.

Dina will use these 2,000 Peruvian soles to hire laborers to help her weed her cacao plantings.
